Following the loss of Mihai’s parents, he and Lisbeth Gheorghiu abandon their old life in Romania, relocating with their kids to a secluded Norwegian village in search of a new beginning close to Lisbeth’s relatives. They forge a tight bond with the neighborly Halberg family, whose kindness feels like the foundation for a brighter future. That delicate harmony, however, starts to fracture when the Gheorghius’ little daughter, Elia, shows up at school with her body marked by bruises.
