A Moscow schoolboy named Volodya pulls a strange lamp from the murky waters of the Moscow River, releasing the genie Khottabych. The magical being vows to grant every wish, but each one backfires spectacularly, piling on chaos instead of fixing anything. Despite the mess, Volodya grows sympathetic to the genie’s own troubles—and soon finds himself hurled into the past. There, Khottabych’s daughter is about to marry a man she doesn’t love. To stop the wedding and set Khottabych free, Volodya and his friends crash an ancient Eastern ceremony in a wild, time-bending adventure.
