Some stories are just too wild to be fiction—and this one is terrifyingly real. For three years, Berlin film students Julius and Moritz invested everything into their animated short Butty, dreaming it would be their big break. Then a festival kicked their film out, and they stumbled on a gut-punch of a revelation: Butty was already online, credited to an American director. What starts as a hunt for answers unravels into the jaw-dropping ascent of a shadowy figure known only as “Mr. F.”—a man being hailed as the next Walt Disney, whose empire was built on a stolen short film and a tangled net of lies.
