AMOOSED: a moose odyssey (2026)

After an encounter with an elk reshaped the life of director and ethnologist Hana Nováková, she discovered she was far from alone. For centuries, diverse cultures across the globe have been spellbound by this ancient totem—one of the largest mammals roaming the northern hemisphere. Once hunted and conquered, the moose is now something we strive to understand. Nováková’s cinematic quest, years in the making, unravels the creature’s mysteries across Czech woodlands, a Russian domestication center, and the ancestral lands of Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
