Customer Journey (2026)
Klantreis
In the Netherlands, the refugee integration process is known as the “Customer Journey”—a system that treats newcomers like clients, funneling them through endless paperwork, regulations, and official channels. Designed for efficiency, it often feels like a bewildering maze. This documentary follows a large Syrian family searching for a stable home, alongside two Somali sisters from the LGBTQ community who dream of becoming actresses, as they all navigate this bureaucratic landscape. Around them, civil servants, volunteers, and social workers try their best to help, often in moments both funny and touching—yet good intentions repeatedly clash with rigid procedures. The film uncovers a world where bureaucracy meets humanity, where personal ambitions are tested against cold rules, and where, after surviving the system, you’re left wondering: did the dreams that brought you here ever stand a chance?
