Unwired (2026)
For over 75 years, aging sheep fences in Wyoming’s Red Desert have kept pronghorn locked out of their most vital habitats. Following the brutal winter of 2022–23, when record snowfall trapped and killed thousands of these animals along the barriers, a team of wildlife experts identified a sprawling area—more than 100,000 acres—that had been completely cut off. In less than a year, a powerful alliance of conservationists and a local rancher joined forces to tear down those barriers and reopen the pronghorn’s ancestral migration routes. Their swift action is now giving this iconic species a fighting chance to survive in an increasingly unpredictable world.
