A shy, unsociable Tokyo teen named Makoto and Aki—the beautiful, gifted class president everyone admires—share an unlikely bond: a single sketch of a fireworks display. Their connection deepens against the backdrop of the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show, one of Japan’s top three pyrotechnic spectacles, which draws hundreds of thousands to Niigata Prefecture each year.
