Robin paints worlds, while Alex obsessively preserves their life through video. When Alex's camera becomes a constant shadow, their playful nickname for Robin—a "dead movie wife montage"—takes a tragic turn. After Robin’s death, Alex is left to mourn using only the digital fragments she recorded. Her sole companion in this grief is one of Robin’s enchanted paintings, which speaks back to her.
