Driven by an unexplainable certainty, I believed a hidden treasure awaited inside my family’s collection of old home movies. I have a faint recollection of sitting as a child before the wavering glow of a projector, those films playing across the screen. But I cannot actually recall witnessing those images back then. What mysterious force, years afterward, guided me to that basket packed with 8mm reels, tucked away on the highest shelf inside my parents’ bedroom closet?
