LOVER LOVE (2026)
A portal opens in Shu Lea Cheang’s new film for the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, *LOVER LOVE* (2023). A window swings wide, and the drab wall of a housing complex melts into a stormy, gray sky. There, a smoky, spectral figure is embraced by a six-winged seraph—the highest order of angel. This collaboratively written motion picture drifts between the tangible and the digital, weaving together performances staged in a motel room, a scrapyard, and city streets tangled with wild nature. Along the way, desert plants sprout human-like limbs, and souls break free from inhuman tyranny to take flight as transhuman beings.
