A taxi driver who tosses around the word "death" like idle chitchat, Deok-jung learns his own days are numbered. He picks up a battered coffee vending machine—a worn-out reflection of himself—and hits the road to squeeze meaning from his remaining time. In a rundown boarding house, he meets Jeong-suk, a karaoke hostess whose prime has long passed and whose luck has run dry. Driven by an inexplicable pull, he makes her a strange proposal: look after the machine, and he'll call it a relationship. Two souls bruised by hardship and isolation begin tending to each other's hidden scars, turning a simple arrangement into something neither dared to dream of. When his final moment arrives, Deok-jung leaves Jeong-suk the vending machine as his last gift—and inside that rusty, weather-beaten box, she discovers a spark to start over.
