Since 2024, public squares across Croatia have become stages for a striking new movement. Groups of mostly older and middle-aged men, calling themselves 'The Knights of the Immaculate Heart of Mary', gather regularly for communal prayer. They champion Christian values, promote patriarchal structures, and push for restrictions on women’s rights—treating these central spaces as their own contested territory where women are unwelcome. By capturing the reactions of police, everyday citizens, and the Knights themselves, alongside the bold, multimedia defiance of artist Arijana Lekić, *Holy Defiance* crafts a vibrant, energetic, and multi-layered portrait of women’s rights in post-war Croatia.
