A teenage girl named Satoko visits an ear, nose, and throat clinic, where a fleeting moment with her classmate Hayase ignites a spark. That single encounter inspires her to pour her emotions into a story. Years later, at 35, Satoko works for a film publicity firm—until a violent confrontation with her married lover’s wife leaves her hospitalized. In recovery, she picks up the pen again. Now 55, Satoko is a homemaker. On the final morning she packs lunchboxes for her three sons, a long-buried childhood ambition to be a writer resurfaces, and she begins to write once more.
