Elly leaves Berlin behind to meet her grandfather Dixie in Michigan for the first time. Their bond, forged through years of heartfelt emails after both came out as queer in 2015, finally shifts from screen to reality. But face-to-face, their visions clash: Dixie sees queerness through a lens of physical intimacy, while Elly holds a different, more personal understanding.
