A successful businessman named Rashdan runs a diving company and lives with his wife Sakinah and their daughter Nisa. While Rashdan has clung to the superstitious traditions of his ancestors since childhood, Sakinah—a medical graduate—places her faith in science and believes that prayer is a Muslim’s most powerful tool. When Nisa misses straight A’s on her SPM trial exam, Rashdan panics; he’s desperate for her to become the first in the family to study overseas. Acting on advice from his assistant Alam, Rashdan drags Sakinah and Nisa on a nationwide hunt for the most potent amulets to guarantee Nisa’s final SPM results. But every shaman they encounter turns out to be a fraud—con artists more interested in swindling the family than helping Nisa succeed.
