Following his death, the vast trove of correspondence Latif Demirci left behind reveals more than an illustrator’s devoted followers—it exposes the struggles, aspirations, and raw vulnerability of a generation in Turkey, a people naive enough to pour their hearts out to a cartoon character. Weaving a poignant contrast between the deliberate pace of handwritten letters and today’s frenetic digital culture, this documentary crafts a uniquely intimate portrait of the artist. The film is enriched by the contributions of his filmmaker daughter Yasemin Demirci, his longtime creative collaborator Behiç Pek, and comic book historian Levent Cantek.
