On December 6, 2023, Captain Denys “Khimik” Shevchenko—commander of the Hroza battalion—fell while leading operations in the Serebryansk Forestry. For his valor, the President of Ukraine has granted him the title Hero of Ukraine posthumously. Two years after his loss, his soldiers, battle-brothers, and closest friends look back on 2023 and remember a man they say was the reason they made it through.
