Breakfast Bastard’s self-titled debut album is a multimedia concept project fusing original music with both legitimate and bootlegged video footage, plus bold visual symbols, to dive into cultural identity, inherited trauma, city life frustrations, and deep-seated nostalgia. At its core is the breakfast roll—a recurring image representing quick indulgence, everyday convenience, and what it means to be Irish today. The soundscape blends post-punk, lo-fi pop, techno, and instrumental hip-hop. Standout tracks include a techno piece built around Michael D. Higgins thanking artists, a teenage anthem disguised as a love letter to piracy, and a surreal look at modern life through fictional romances with objects, bots, and AI partners.
