Under the direction of Nisma Qureshi, *Bite* is a gripping short film that delves into the raw realities of hunger, psychological turmoil, and the suffocating grip of anorexia nervosa. The narrative centers on a young woman—portrayed by Qureshi herself—confined to a stark, sterile room with blank white walls, her only comfort a modest air mattress draped in a pink floral quilt. Dressed perpetually in a delicate floral babydoll frock and soft ballet flats, she is offered nothing more than a single apple, a meager ration that fails to nourish her body or spirit. Her torment escalates when The Disease, embodied by Camryn Halfaker, violently cocoons her in layers of plastic wrap, symbolizing the inescapable chokehold of her condition. As the story unfolds, the haunting ritual of the apple repeats in an endless loop, ensuring the young girl is never granted respite or release from her cyclical prison of suffering.
