During the rubber boom’s peak, British influence reshaped the Amazon into a global hub. Railways, ports, opulent estates, and river routes linked Manaus and Belém to international markets. Yet beneath this glittering progress lay a deep human toll. This documentary revisits that era, exposing how so-called modernization thrived on the exploitation and silencing of Indigenous and Black communities, and challenges us to confront the lasting scars of that history.
