That We May See (2026)

An intimate look at five trailblazing Filipino artists—Renato Habulan, Egai Fernandez, Pablo Baens-Santos, Jess Abrera, and Antipas Delotavo—who ignited the Philippine Social Realist movement. The film zeroes in on the 1976 founding of KAISAHAN, exploring how the harsh realities of Marcos-era Martial Law forged a generation of creators determined to use their art as a tool for social change. It also shines a light on the pivotal role of CAYA (Center for the Advancement of Young Artists) in nurturing this movement’s early seeds. Weaving together personal stories with both past and present viewpoints, the documentary follows these artists’ shared dreams and separate journeys, uncovering the struggles, beliefs, and creative grit that prove their lasting belief in art as a force that shapes Filipino identity—as witness, critic, and visionary.
