The city of N is baking under an unrelenting summer sun. A bronze statue of Pushkin stands watch, a silent fixture amid the sweltering chaos. Pyotr, a garbage truck driver, navigates his daily routes through streets where the heat radiates off every surface, collecting trash from bins scorched by the afternoon glare. The entire town prays for rain, yet the skies only answer with empty, angry thunder that rumbles through humid evenings, offering no mercy to the parched earth. The sole escape from this oppressive monotony is the gentle trickle of a tiny fountain. Amidst this heat, a wedding looms on the horizon—Pyotr plans to give away his only son, a man whose cold, rigid demeanor hides a deep, unyielding loyalty to his parents. As night falls, the fountain falls silent, and all that remains is the bronze shoulder of Pushkin—a lonely perch where a tired, overheated mind can finally rest its weary head.
