Humboldt USA (2026)
Countless corners of the United States still carry the name of Alexander von Humboldt—a queer explorer, a brilliant naturalist, and a visionary now mostly erased from memory. A filmmaker driven by longing visits three of those places, turning them into unexpected meeting points. Woven through with Humboldt’s own writings, the story connects modern lives: city activists turning blighted blocks into green spaces, scientists mapping ancient redwood canopies, and hunters guiding bighorn sheep back to protected ranges. Spanning decades and diverse terrains, HUMBOLDT USA explores what survives of a dream about “interconnectedness.”
